Celebrating Tun Mathatir’s Lunch at Café Rasa Malaysia

True to his word, Tun fulfilled his promise of 2016 to visit our café at Westfield Stratford City and on 9 June 2022 history was made at Rasa. What better accolade could we ever receive than from Malaysia’s living legend and global celebrity for world peace. We were truly humbled to welcome and serve you Tun. It came as such a huge surprise that our invitation of 6 years ago had finally been accepted and more surprisingly accommodated into an extremely busy schedule – one that would exhaust even the young. We salute you, Tun. To say that we were all starstruck would be an understatement. Here, in our café is the 2-time ex-Prime Minister of Malaysia – a statesman and at 96 years of age a world icon, who projected Malaysia onto the world stage. He was unashamedly humble, enjoying our food and company, putting all at ease. How exciting it was when Tun ordered a second (and maybe third) helping of our lamb curry, which in his honor, we will be relabelling as Tun’s Lamb Curry. In all Tun afforded us 2 memorable hours that will remain with all that had the opportunity to meet the pride of Malaysia – a living legend.
